Conducting Labs
Our Conducting Labs are open to conductors who want to work on the following aspects of their art:
expressing the music & communication
rehearsal technique & flow
score study
baton technique
These workshops are for the following conductors:
students in graduate school
orchestra directors of high school
working conductors who want to sharpen their orchestral skills within a supportive environment
The labs are made possible by a generous grant from the T Gordon Parks Trust, and Colorado Music Institute, and are open to all conductors free of charge.
The labs have been led by renowned conducting professors and professionals working in the field, including Andrés Felipe Jaime, Scott O’Neil, Lawrence Golan, Gary Lewis, and Devin Patrick Hughes.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
Beethoven 7 & Brahms 4
The upcoming lab is scheduled for Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 - 9:30 PM at Colorado Music Institute.
Repertoire: Beethoven Symphony no. 7 & Brahms Symphony no. 4
Participants should prepare the entire symphony or one complete movement
The session will include a discussion on Beethoven’s Third Symphony, score analysis, & rehearsal strategies, followed by conducting a septet from musicians of the Arapahoe Philharmonic & conductor Devin Patrick Hughes
